Shoemakers know that the last is the heart of the shoe.
A well-made last is the guarantee for a successful shoe. For over 75 years, footwear manufacturers worldwide have been relying on DESMA expertise in all areas of shoemaking, from the first ideas about the new product through production ramp up and continuing with DESMA’s unbeatable service.

How does this work in practice? The beginning of the shoe is the last, the heart of the shoe, which will determine the final shape, size, design and wearing comfort.

The customer comes to the DESMA team with an idea for a shoe or sole design. Some customers, with many years of experience in the trade, choose to bring their own lasts, others enjoy the design support offered by DESMA. Lasts can be designed from scratch, or existing lasts modified. Many customers take the opportunity of studying the DESMA Last Archive, a truly unique library of lasts, stored at DESMA Headquarters in Achim, Germany.
